Stop Your Water Heater Problems
This can result from several problems such as circuit breaker issues, a bad thermostat, or pilot light not igniting.
Finding water around your water heater is usually a result of a larger issue, and requires immediate action. The location of the leak will determine if your water heater can be repaired or should be replaced with a new one.
A sulfur smell coming from your tap water is a sign that there is bacteria growing in the sediment at the bottom of your tank… which is a problem. If you have a gas or electric model water heater with the heating element close to the bottom of the tank, this sediment could affect the ability of your heater to warm water. It could also be a sign that your sacrificial anode is running low.
It is quite common for dirt and other natural sediments to settle at the bottom of the water supply lines. But if something stirs up the sediment, such as a higher demand for service, it can make the water that comes out of your tap look yellow or brown.
If you’re finding that you often take lukewarm showers or run out of hot water while cleaning dishes, you may not have a water heater that is large enough to fulfill the amount of hot water that your family demands. This likely means that you need to upgrade to a larger water heater.
Popping noise coming from the tank is another sign of sediment build up. The high temperatures of the bubbles in the sediment move up into the water causing it boil immediately, followed by a popping sound.
